Tuesday January 22nd.
Annual Quiz

Well 2008 started off with a quiz this year, as the Dangly run was held in December last year.
There was no quiz last year as we were looking for a new clubhouse, so after the AGM this year we will have officially been in the new clubhouse a full year, yet members were already using the venue.
Thanks must be given to Mr Benny Drakes for finding a new venue as he done all the leg work by going to different places to find a suitable venue.
The quiz was well attended with 10 pairs entering. Mr. René Medcraft was the quizmaster and as you very well know the questions never suite everyone, but overall everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Outright Winners were Mr. Wayne Bowen and Mr. Colin Lecrass with 59 points.
Second place was a tie between THE KIDS. being David Hughes Daughter and her boyfriend, and TERRY AND JUNE Being Terry Palmer and Mrs. Gwenda Bowen with 46 points.
Third place was another tie between THE LONERS being Mr. Dean Smith and latecomer Mr. Kerry Greenfield (Gabe) with 44 points.
The club would like to thank all who turned up to this event and Mr. Wayne Bowen and Mr. Colin Lecrass will be the quizmasters for 2009.

Sunday February 3rd.
Blow the cobwebs run

The forecast for this day was not very good (very wet and windy) 3 riders turned up,
René Medcraft Michael Bailey and Phil Jones.
We decided not to go down the A48 to Norman's cafe, Michael took the lead and we went west over the Beacons and on to the cafe on the A40 for breakfast. It then started to rain so we went over to Builth and then home. We covered 150 miles, so not bad to blow the cobwebs away.

Sunday March 16th.
Annual Easter egg run to
TY-HAFAN Childrens Hospice

The forecast for this day was not very good (very wet) but we were hopefull for a good turnout, but only 6 riders turned up,
Michael Bailey, Phil Jones, Tony Melville, Peter Hale, Benny Drakes and René Medcraft.
The weather was fine but a little windy, we arrived at about 11.45 and met up with the South Wales Wings. We had a collection for the Hospice and handed over a cheque for £100.00 and also a load of chocolate eggs.
Below are some photos of the day.

Sunday May 19th
The 14th Annual Weston-Super-Mare run

Well the weather was good and when I arrived there was about thirty bikes already there and there was a buzz in the air, but that was soon quashed with a slight accident between to motorcycles.
The emergency services were called and it was all cleared up, thankfully the persons involved were not seriously injured but bruised and battered.
It was a little chaotic parking while the little event taking place and all seemed exited and ready to go.
The road was totally blocked off while everyone formed quite an untidy queue, but 09.30 came and we were off with Mr. Robert Gibbons taking the lead with his Goldwing behind the unmarked Police escort, with over 200 motorcycles following which is a RECORD for this run
To see the faces of the people on their doorsteps and the public with the children on the side of the road is quite a sight and very pleasing for them to see all the bikes going down through the valley.
Gavin from Gloss Photography was en-route in Porth as we joined the one way system to North Road
(Link to follow)
At the OLD SEVERN BRIDGE services the club collected £335.08p for the ACU Benevolent fund, we think they will be very pleased with that amount which is a new RECORD for our collection at the bridge.
We then had a good trip down the Avonmouth road and onto the A4 towards Bristol and then the A370 to Weston Parking seemed a bit chaotic but we all got in the arranged car park, but some parked at the tourist information centre which is not really for our group.
Some stayed until about 4pm. but others made their way to Cheddar or Wookey Hole etc.
All inall it was a great day

The above photos were taken on the Trehafod by-pass

SPAIN 08
The club went on a trip to Spain in early June and here are some photos.
there may be more to come and a report (hopefully)

Sunday August 17th
Llangollen

Not a lot has happened this year so far, members seem to be doing other things on the club run days.
René went on the run on his own as there were other things on and it seems a good run for next year as the sights from the aquaduct are really good
He then went onto Llynclys Heritage railway and had a cuppa and a chat with the volunteers there.
He then came down to Goytre Warf for a look there and another cuppa added to the system.
This is another place for a short club run in the future.
